Murals
This mural was hung in Just Friends Coffee House on Colborne St., Brantford, ON. It was freehand painted in my home studio on a large primed canvas, and then rolled up and transported to the Coffee House and hung using wallpaper paste. It doesn't show up in the photo very well but the warm golden yellow background has a soft painted texture that I did with large a sea sponge. The leaves accenting each corner was created with the help of a stencil that I hand-cut special for this project.
Everything is painted using acrylic, however the waiter has areas that are oil. You can paint oil over acrylic, just never the other way round.

A mural is a painting on a wall, ceiling, or other large permanent surface. Murals today are painted in a variety of ways, using oil or water based media. The styles can vary from abstract to trompe-l'œil (a French term for "fool" or "trick the eye"). Today, the beauty of a wall mural has become much more widely available with a technique whereby a painting or photographic image is transferred to poster paper which is then pasted to a wall surface.
